Good Angel, Bad Angel

Ever wondered where does this two angels sitting on one’s shoulders picture come from? You have seen it millions of times in movies and cartoons. A guy or a girl sits by himself/herself and then tries to make a decision between the two options given and then the good angel pops up on the right shoulder, giving a good advice and then the devilish looking angel pops up on the other side doing the exact opposite. Well, I am not sure if the 3rd century church father Origen was the first one who came up with the idea but this is what I encountered reading his works 
“To every man there are two attending angels, the one of justice and the other of wickedness. If there be good thoughts in our heart, and if righteousness be welling up in our soul, it can scarcely be doubted that an angel of the Lord is speaking to us. If, however, the thoughts of our heart be turned to evil, and angel of the devil is speaking to us.” – Origen
